How Does A New Bride Celebrate Rakshabandhan In Her Parents Home Know The Special Customs

Rakshabandhan is a special festival of brother-sister love. For a newly married Bride, going to her maternal home and tying a rakhi to her brother is a very special experience. This day is full of joy and excitement for her.

Early in the morning, she takes a bath and gets ready and wears new or beautiful clothes. Then she prepares the items for the Rakhi thali. This thali contains rakhi, roli, sandalwood, akshat, sweets and a small diya. She goes to her maternal home, where her parents and brother eagerly await her. On reaching her maternal home, everyone laughs and jokes with her and old memories are refreshed.

When the time comes to tie the rakhi, she makes her brother sit. First of all, she applies a tilak of roli and sandalwood on her brothers forehead. Then she sprinkles akshat and performs aarti with a diya. After this, she ties a rakhi on her brothers wrist and prays for his long life. The brother also lovingly gives her gifts, money or something special. This moment is very emotional and memorable for both.

After tying the Rakhi, she celebrates the festival with everyone at her parents house. She eats the food prepared by her mother, like halwa, puri or sweets. She sits and talks with everyone and spends time laughing and having fun. On this day she relives her childhood memories. Celebrating Raksha Bandhan at her parents house is a wonderful opportunity for a newly married Bride to feel the love and affection again.
